Homework

Definition of Homework as defined by Mr. Lopez: is work to be done at home with little help from others.  The ability to show one's teacher and parents what you can do on your own with the knowledge you have built from the start of school.  Homework is intended to be a way to show your ability to be responsible about your education by completing tasks related to the teaching your teachers have done with you..

Homework should look like this:

  • 30-40 minutes of reading.
  • 15-20 minutes of indepedent work.
  • 15-20 minutes of explanation from the student about how the homework was completed (more information on this later).

Packets

Packets will be given out on Monday in a packet.  In the packet you will find:
  • 2 Pieces of Math Homework (Meant to take 15-20 minutes each)
  • 2 Pieces of Reading/Writing Homework (Meant to take 15-20 minutes each)
  • 1 Science Homework
  • 1 Reading Log (Meant to be filled in each night and recorded with the number of minutes student read)

The homework packet needs to be brought home and back to school each day.  We will review the items in class and score them.  The packet then goes home on Friday and the reading log stays or goes home for weekend reading minutes.
