Hilary Morland,
Speech/Language Pathologist
Speech-language pathologists, or speech therapists, assess,
diagnose, treat, and help to prevent disorders related to
communication. Speech therapists work with children who have
difficulty producing speech sounds and children who have language
delays, such as delays in vocabulary and syntax/grammar. Children
who have difficulty comprehending language, such as word meaning,
sequencing and problem solving, may receive speech therapy as
well. Other children who might come to speech therapy: those
who have pragmatic or social language disorders, hearing impaired
children, children who have difficulty chewing and swallowing and
those with fluency disorders.
