Meet the Fourth Grade Teachers:

Mr. Anderson-

Welcome to fourth grade. I am Russ Anderson and I am beginning my 15th year at Emerald Hills. Last year I taught a 4th and 5th grade split, but I have taught 5th grade for most of my years here, as well as 6th grade and Physical Education. Before life as a Laker, I spent eight years as a middle school and Physical Education teacher. Baseball is my other passion and I was the head coach at Olympic College and the University of Puget Sound. I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Oregon University. Life is keen in Room 16!

Ms. Draggoo-

Hi! My name is Betsy Draggoo, returning to 4th grade at Emerald Hills after an enjoyable year as Language Arts specialist. Previously I spent two years teaching 4th grade at the International School of Myanmar in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), one year at Emerald Hills teaching 4th grade, and two years at Sumner Middle teaching 7th grade language arts/social studies. I have my Bachelors degree from the Art Institute of CA- San Diego, and Masters in Teaching from Seattle Pacific University. My loves in life are my family and dog, traveling, cooking/eating, soccer, art/design, and the ocean. I am so excited to be stepping back into the classroom focusing on enriching reading and writing skills for students by creating a love for literacy, building a strong foundation for math, and integrating social studies and science throughout the whole year. Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or just to say hello. Thanks so much!

Mrs. Sage-

Hi! I am Mrs. Sage and I am so glad to be here for my second year at Emerald Hills. Last year I was the Dean of Students (which was only a one year position) and I am overjoyed that I was asked to return to teach fourth grade (it’s my favorite grade!). I have my National Boards in English Language Arts and a Masters in Educational Technology. My favorite things to do are write (I’m currently working on my second children’s novel), travel, hike, and zumba. I live with my husband, daughter, dog, cat, and fish in Edgewood.  Please feel free to contact me any time. You’ll get the quickest response from email, but you can call or send a note too. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you!
