Homework

Young children need to be reading books and to have books read to them.  They need to have conversations with others about the books they read and hear.  The requirement in First and Second Grade is 100 minutes of reading outside of school each week.  The best way to improve at something is to practice it!  Readers need to practice reading!  Students are taught how to find  "good-fit" books, ones that are at an appropriate reading level, and should be reading in them often!

We will have weekly spelling tests starting in Second Grade.  The pretests will be coming home on Mondays and students will need to study the words for Friday's test.  Students spelling all words correctly on Monday will have enrichment activities to do and will not need to take the test on Friday.

Math Facts will be taught in class and you may see a page come home in the daily folder with additional practice.

We have 2 websites, IXL Math and RAZ Kids, that are ways to provide some math and reading practice.
