IB classes at Sumner High School
At Sumner High School, we offer the full IB Diploma
Programme. Proper course planning is important for students
intending to pursue a partial or full IB course schedule in
the 11th- and 12th-grade years.
9th-grage Honors English is the appropriate course for students
intending to begin IB English in the junior year. Successful
completion of French I and II is required participation in IB
French. For personalized planning, please see your guidance
counselor or Ms. Prestin, the IB Programme Coordinator.

11th-Grade Full IB
Diploma Candidates Advisory Notes
Welcome to the
Full-IB advisory! All students pursuing the full diploma are
placed in Ms. Swigart's advisory. We do this to support
students with the very rigorous programme requirements. We
also complete all junior year advisory requirements as well as
supporting students with the Extended Essay, which is a requirement
for the IB Diploma.
Honor Society Information
Honor Society chapter
by-laws, hours forms and service project proposal forms are under
the "Documents" tab to the left. In addition to maintaining
your 3.5 cumulative GPA, and attending gerneal membership meetings
twice per month (every other Tuesday,) you need 15 club-sponsored
service hours and 5 individual service hours per school year in
order to remain an active member of the SHS NHS.
All indivdual service hours need prior
approval from Ms. Swigart. Remember that indivdual service projects
shoudl be projects done solely for the purpose of meeting Honor
Society requirements and shoudl not be used for other projects such
as Senior Project or other club hours. Please submit your
proposal form to by 25B and the executive committee (officers and
Ms. Swigart) will review it at their next meeting.
Meetings are every other Tuesday after school in room 25B.
We meet for one hour from 2:30 until 3:30. Our next
mandatory meeting is Tuesday, September 27th. This meeting is
essential, as we need to prepare for the Homecoming Carnival. Also,
all available members are meeting on Tuesday the 20th to make
posters and prepare for the carnival. See you
there!
September 2011:
The annual SHS Homecoming
Carnival is scheduled for September 30th. The carnival runs from
about 4:30pm (following the parade) until 6:30
pm.
